Idiot. An excellent example of applied Darwinism. I wonder what he though would be the added value of performing such a stupid stunt. He's really lucky that there were not lamp posts or fences on either side of that road.
I ride an MT-03, I bailed a few times, but this is suicide!

Oh.
I did the same thing without the wheelie (pbms with my handlebars, due to vibrations on the road, "guidonnage" in french, i can't translate it).
About the same speed with my little Buell.
Glides : 150m for me, 250m for my bike.
And it wasn't grass, but concrete for the final.
A little less comfortable
Bad memories, but now, I can send the video to my friends so that they can understand.
Thanks to the uploader !

He made a very common mistake resulting in tank slap, whenever you keep the front wheel off the ground for extended periods of time you have to gently let it back down on the pavement for a quick tap then re-apply the throttle to bring it just barely off the ground again and then let it back down fully. This allows the tire to start spinning again before it fully touches the ground.
When the rear tire is going 90mph and the front is going 0 mph it basically just skids when it first touches down on the pavement, just like when a big airplane touches down on the runway and you see that large cloud of smoke from the tires. A good example of this is when Ghost Rider does his 200+ Mph wheelies on the 500hp Hayabusa, you can see him double tap the front tire when coming down.
Also a good steering damper helps a lot in preventing tank slap.

#3 urgh no its not. i hate it when people misuse the Darwin awards. he isn't stupid he just had some bad luck or isn't very good at poping a wheelies at 90miles per fricken hour.
if it was some jerk off fat kid who got his new motorcycle from his rich dad and wanted to test it out in front his friends and ended up dieing as a result THATS a darwin award.
