#(removed comment) Most spiders in the Salticidae family (jumping spiders) have more advanced eyes than the majority of other arachnid families. This is so probably because of the Jumping spiders' jumping in itself. This ground-air-ground coordination requires a good eyesight, so their receptory organs have evolved accordingly :)

Should be mentioned that its eyes aren't really at the back of its head, they're still at the sides- the usual displacement for the final pair usually. They have just evolved to be at a slight glance backwards, so to speak, to grasp more of the surroundings.. also indeed a trait related strictly to the spiders ability to jump.

As for other animals,, it is hard to say, as the shape of the head of an animal often disqualifies that sort of question altogether because it can't be described as having a forward and a backward direction :P

I hope I answered your question to its fullest extent ;)

Yeah. I had to consider if this was serious half way through. Seemed like the narrator was trying too hard to be funny, when there was no cause. And the camera work, ouch. I guess I'm just biased towards BBC-like documentaries.

Nevertheless, interesting clip.
