I ran a machine a lot like that in Kalamazoo MI but we stood in front of it, 3 on each side, just like in the video, and the machine wouldn't drop down unless we all pushed 2 buttons each at the same time.
12 buttons had to be pushed at once, one for each hand and that way no one would have their hands in there when the press came down.
Safety first in the USA.

Are you blind? What you see in that video is exactly HOW "dipshits" make an easy fast buck at the expense of others.

#7 - That all depends on the relative "cost of living" in the area that they do. If you make 50 cents and hour there and a beer costs you 10 cents, it's the same as making $10 and hour here in North America and buying a beer for $2.
They live without the high-cost luxuries such as big-screen TV's, Playstations, dishwashers... But then again, they don't have credit cards to spend their country into financial ruin, either! Their idea of Wii is real-life, not sitting on a couch playing simulated sports.
Yes, some kids DO work in sweat-shops, and life isn't GREAT there for many; but take a look around you. The "wealth" that the west has is all borrowed, growing steadily and is gathering interest. Who do you think the west owes the money to??
China has been steadily buying American dollars for years so that the Federal Reserve has to print more (also because of the bail-out packages), thus de-valuing the American dollar. Lower value = less purchasing power.

I dont get it, these guys are moving slowly compared to any factory job Ive ever had. Their safety needs to be looked at, but a simple laser guard would probably do the trick. None of them wear hard hats either. Noise levels would be just the same as any other press so earplugs would be necessary.

#14 I agree; the working conditions are BAD, but give it time - American factories up to about 50 years ago were just as bad. I worked at Magna (car parts manufacturer) for a bit and there were a LOT of safe-guards. But, as China progresses in manufacturing and its wealth increases, there are a LOT of advances.
I just recently hired someone from mainland China who was an owner of a textile factory there. He filled me in on working conditions; what the western media is showing you is just the bad companies (like none exist here??) to make people here feel better about themselves (given that they will be losing their jobs as more companies move their factories overseas). Also, logistics was integrated into manufacturing long before the U.S.
Companies will need to beacuse people will be less and less able to buy their products if they don't keep costs down (unless, of course, people here take large wage cuts). No sales = no business
#13 A bit of both?, methinks!
