SSD Awesomeness

What happens when you take 24 256GB SSD's and tether them together to make 6TB's of storage? Watch and you will find out. AMAZING!!

Warning: Geek alert

Also, don't defragment your SSD's. There's no need for it and only generates usage (and even SSD's dies after being used to much)

oooohhh a super-fast, with a huge ammount of memory space computer 8-)

So this hard drive storage is so fast it effectively works as ram?

i'd go as far as saying this is the most beautiful thing i have seen. just reformatted my computer and transferred my TB of data at a measly 35mbs, 2000mb would have been awesome and i may have got some sleep last night.

Lets not forget that these SSD hard drives have a limited number of writes and reads. They are amazingly fast, but expensive and dont last as long as old school drives.

Last time I checked (long time ago) they only had limited number of write cycles. Reading cells isn't a problem.
And still, even older SSD's with SLC have the ability to write to the same cell around 100k times. And didn't they plan for endurance cells specifically made for system files that needs to be rewritten all the time?

And the cost of it all?
Only for the SSD's: 350x24= 8400 euros

So quite pointless

if you was to put all of those hard drives in your pc it would over heat the pc due to it restricting the airflow :/

And that's what it gets to run microsoft sh** fast enough. It would be awesome achievement if they didn't combine super good hardware with useless software.
One big fail for wannabe geeks.

#10 umm maybe i'm wrong but i think the reason he put the drives outside, might be for that reason, and also didn't you see those huge fans?

he put the drives outside the case as they cant even fit into the case!

SSDs dont get as hot as ordinary harddrives AND they last longer. Having no movable pasts should let them live longer without getting worn out.

Also did you see how stable they are? the guy is holding a 6tb 24 drive raid 0 (striped) setup in the cables while jumping on a trampoline! and nothing happens!

SSDs are awesome. period.

This clip shows that the bottleneck of almost any computer is mainly caused by the harddrive. The CPU, GPU and RAM can read/write WAY faster than the harddrive. Only solution to this problem is SSDs. Again, no movable parts = uber speed

Well #11, it is not a very good example but it is similar. If you ask 6 guys to find an item in a store and I ask 24 guys, who has more probability to get the item first?

It seems that other components are bottle necking the hard drive.

everything is pretty crazy but the mobo suxs

too bad they dont have a dual cpu mobo with quad SLI...

And when one of those SSD's die your 6Tb raid dies with him.

#13 i was just stating that if you were to put them in a pc, and it doesnt matter what size the fans are if the air cant flow it usesless

Just imagine running these drives on EXT 4 partitioning from linux... It would run about twice of those speeds IMO.

it would have been nice if they had the same rig with conventional HDD and comparing in real time.

#13 what good do the fans do if the drives are on the outside? were those the drives he was holding in his hand as he was jumping up and down on the tramp? I am a noob to all this stuff.
