The camera angle makes it look closer than it really is. I bet he could have jumped and raised his arms without getting hit. It's still very close though :P I wouldn't agree on standing there myself... The video makes it look like the plane almost touches his hair.

I'm surprised that the wind turbulance from the passing jet didn't blow these guys all over the place

#1 the bottom of the auxiliary tank is 4.3 metres above the runway - he could have had the cameraman sitting on his shoulders and there still wouldn't have been any physical contact...

(Altitude calculated by comparing the ratio of the vertical distance of the shadow to the fuel tank to the wingspan, and then multiplying that by the 9.25 metre wingspan of a Harrier II)
