Make a Fireball that You Can Play With

The fire is easier to handle if you add pure (that's 100%) ethanol or spirits to make a 1:10 ratio of ethanol/spirits:lighter fuel mixture.

#2 I think that what is burning exactly isn't the material itself but the fumes around it. That is why it doesn't burn your fingers when you touch it in that manner. I would bet that it would burn like hell if you kept your hand above it though. I may be wrong though but it makes sense.

@#2
The ball itself is not on fire, its the vapor of the lighter fluid mixed with air around (and mostly above) the ball which is flammable, hence why the fame is located above the ball (vapor rises up as its in this case lighter then air).
The drenched ball has not enough air available in itself to make it light up aswell, you can clearly see how at some time the flame also goes around the ball as the mixture of air and lighter fluid vapor becomes flammable.
If you would overfill the ball with fluid it would leak on your hand where it can again vaporize and becoma flammable, in that case, you hand would be on fire :-o.

I guess you can hold on to the ball because only the part above the ball is on fire and that is where the most intense heat is, after a while i do think it while get a bit hot.

Hope this explains a bit, in generel though, this is a recipe for disaster and i recommend doing this in a safe environnement!

(sorry for my english, is not my first language)
I'd like to know if it's a fake or not... Nice supposition #5, but if there is somebody that is 100% sure it's better.
Halloween is here, and that's a good trick! But I don't want to be burned hehehe

Woette has the rigth explanation, and i agree a fireball could be dangerous because it can escape from your hands and roll all over your home! seem be fun but you must be careful!

This works for sure. I made similar balls a couple of years ago. When they are on fire you can't hold them like forever because it will get to hot in your hands. You can actualy hold them in your hands for a couple of seconds. then you need to hold it difrently, with other fingers or on another place. Makes sense? This is not fake. Its real. I can confirm that, but hey who am i on the internet? :).

Best to do this outside. And no long sleeves. Maybe naked is safest..

true, the cotton ball dowes not burn itself , nor does the liquid lighter fluid but its vapour form, and it will only burn ur hand if u put it above not below since the gas is lighter than air 8-)
