Kennedy Space Center in Cocoa, Florida!
I've been there to see this awesome power take off!
12 Days of launch delays later & it was still amazing regardless.
This rocket looks like a Syringe or a Giant Tampon

#2 I could be mistaken but I thought that's what happens when you go at the speed of sound and not water vapor.

#6 From your question it sounds like your saying nothing causes it, it just happens when you go fast.... Yes it does happen when you go fast, but what causes it...?
Water!!! - It's a zone of low pressure that results in condensation of water vapour - this condensation makes the low pressure zone visible as either water vapour reflecting light or ice crystals doing the same.

#11 Dream on. Even IF we discover light speed travel the nearest place will still be thousands of years away.

#13 Why are you in a hurry? Btw, I call shotgun..
I just hope we kick everyone who has the tendency to say "Are we there yet?"

#13 Thousands of light years away ?? There have been many planets found much closer then that already, true most are all oddball planets with no chance of supporting life. But right now with our current way we detect planets it is not too easy to find the small rocky worlds in the habitable zone. and in general finding a planet at all is a matter of luck and persistence. It is true that even at the speed of light it would take 5 years or so to make it to the closest stars. With any luck in the decades to come people will look back and say (Light speed ?!? Why did we bother to try to exceed that when there are better ways to get where we want to go) It is all star trek science for now and most would say quite impossible, but there was a time when people though breaking the speed of sound would also be a impossibility. Give the folks with big brains some time (and a lot of money) and maybe our great great grandchildren will have a chance to (as they say) explore the last frontier B)
Awesome rocket launch, but then again I love this stuff

If humanity was a peaceful race, we would be on Mars by now and have cities on the Moon.
Instead we decided to bomb ourselves untill there will be nothing to bomb, like Einstein said, "Dunno what weapons we will be fighting with in WW3, but in WW4 we'll be throwing rocks".
Hopefully NASA gets more funds for space exploration...
Cheers!

If all the scientists went round thinking that certain things simply cant be done, then we would be living in a very different world. I think all people that are active thinkers should consider it a duty to question established ideas...based on empirical evidence of course
*my actual two cents - why we building massive fusion reactors, make em smaller - cheaper with more test sites, more configurations in more science labs. I would not be opposed to dieing in cleaner less f***** up world.

#11, #13, #14, #15 yeah let's find us a new planet to fuck up.
might as well if all of you ignorant little pieces of shit out there won't be giving up driving your SUV to the fast food diner around the block and all that.
#17, If humanity was a peaceful race, we would be on earth doing exactly the opposite we are doing now.

Am I the only one who feels like going back to 1950 style rocket design is not a step forward? I know we need to make going into space cheaper but couldn't we do it in style? BTW recycling is cool since the main body of the rocket is actually one of the space shuttle side booster engine.

Funny thing is that this rocket was developed to help build a moon base to aid the mars project. this project however has been laid on ice for an undefined amount of time since the whole mars mission is uncertain. so much research money gone to waste. do some googling for affirmation.
however it is an amazing sight they will find a use for it I am sure.
