Bike vs Car
That's got to hurt! And the bike is probably at least 5 times more expensive than the car

that driver is one of two things 1. a woman 2. an old person or possibly a combination of them both which is twice as lethal.

I know the old guy was going slow, but i rekon this is the bikes fault... He clearly wasn't paying attention, there was room to go around and you'll notice he only hits the brakes seconds before the impact.
I fully respect bike riders but there's a heap of fools out there that do crap like this and us motorists get the blame!

To all who blames the driver - he may just had some prob with the car and needed to pull over. The right blinker is on so there's no doubt about his intentions. No matter what its always a drivers responsibility to keep an eye on the road, not only for the few yards/metres ahead of you but much further than that. #13 Sorry but I believe your judgement was a bit premature - the clip is only 13 sec's long and if you watch the people at the bus stop - they are out of sight of the accident and comes out to see what happend, some are starting to move just about when the clip ends... In such incidents people are not prepared and it will take a moment before they begins to do anything...

there is a lesson to learn here never let your car stall on the motorway it makes your car less likely to return home in one piece

I actually agree with #13. Yes people, I know this might be shocking to a lot of you, but us mods and admins are allowed to have our own opininion, it's some stupid thing called free (not as in free beer) speech or something..
Why I agree with #13?
He (the driver of the bike) could easily have avoided the crash if he had:
1. Paid attention (d'uh)
and/or
2. Didn't drive so fast that this was inevitable
Maybe it's just me, but where I'm from we're actually not allowed to drive at all before we pass a shitload of written and practical tests were we have to prove that we know that we BY LAW are responsible. Yes, we actually have a law that clearly says that "you should be prepared for every consievable situation and adjust speed accordingly, otherwise you're to blame, NO MATTER IF YOUR HIT BY A EFFIN' METEORITE".
Yes, the driver of the car could have changed lanes earlier (or gotten into the bus pocket quicker), but that doesn't take the responsibility away from the bike driver. The bike driver simply should have known that the car MIGHT change lanes and adjusted his speed accordingly to avoid a possible collision.

Well Oldfart - look at the Busstop and notice that people are standing in it. When the bike hits the car they are out of sight of the accident, but they are coming out from it and in the last second you can see one with lightcolored blue pants starts walking toward the biker/car. Its 7 seconds from the impact...or do you expect people to start rushing when they hear a bang? Only one that fits your description is the young guy...believe he gets mentally blocked. Normally people needs some moment before reacting - most are hesitating and waiting for someone else to take the first step. If only the clip had been a bit longer ...
PS: According to his son he was only in the hospital for 1 hour afterwards... =)

it looks to me like the bike was trying to avoid the car by going right. he may of thought the car was only changing 1 lane not going all the way to the bus stop. and a think if you look close enough the front wheel of the bike has locked up before hitting the car. so he probably was coming off anyway. by hitting the car probably saved his life by slowing him down abit.

Idiotic on both ends, however I do put more blame on the car driver.

As a long time bike driver i can tell you 2 things about this video.
1) When you see old ppl driving be patient im sure you want to do your groceries by yourself also when you are 70 and not call your kids to bring it over that might live 2 states away.
2) Driving a bike requires twice as much attention... as you are in 2 wheels with no metal construction covering your head. AKA = When you drive FAST drive on the damn FAST lane... aka FAR LEFT..... When you re driving in a highway as this appears to be... keep your damn eyes on the road..
As food for thought... imagine what would be left of this not very cautious motorcyclist if what he hit was a fuel tanker... not such nice thoughts come to mind right ?
