Eh #3 your nothing thinking one thing the plastic your talking of is often and most likely here coated with metal ,even if the metal in the plastic arcs around for a while its still boiling the wine inside creating a hell of a lot of pressure and when it does blow it has a lot of built up power ,
In mythbusters they filled a safe full of water and blew it open using a small amount of explosive, dont be fooled i reckon this would happen no problem if you put a box of wine in there and the fact the lights went out from the short caused by the microwave blowing up kinda makes me believe it more

A microwave is just a big electromagnet. So the explosion can not have come from the microwave itself. The only way the explosion is real is if it came from the evaporating wine and that being so, the maximum amount of force build up you can have is the force that the bag holding the wine can exert. Which means there would be hardly any explosion. The explosive force would be equal to the the retention ability of the bag and hence you would think that the microwave would be stronger than the bag.
If you disagree with me, please try to use logic as that is how i operate.

#7, lest we forget the vacuum of pressure from a balloon and the addition of the conductions of heat that lend to explosive expansions. (the bag of wine w/a closed valve) lol. It also doesn't help that these boxes of wine hold a bag that's aluminium encased between air-tight silicone and plastic layers. The reflection off the aluminium alone against microwaves causes burn. Add the pressure quotients to the mix with a cheap microwave and ka-boom!
Put a potato in an microwave. Then put a potato in that's been stabbed with a fork or a knife.
Then try a potato that hasn't been poked and wrapped in aluminium foil. You'll find a huge explosion. What made this one however burn through the oven's frame and into the wall was due to the added combustive component of reflective waves due to the bounces off the aluminium.
But... I think the real harm here is buying wine in a box in the first place and then destroying it in a microwave oven. It also doesn't help that the pikey didn't know how to hold a wine glass properly. lol

Yeah, 'm calling BullShit.
In the video notice the box has moved during the cut. You can see that there is no turntable. The box is not moving from the start or even after the cut, but during those supposed 4 minutes it does move... Why?
The box has not distended from pressure. Not that 4 minutes would be enough to cause that volume of liquid to boil, assuming the box is full, and if the box is indeed close to empty, again there is no pressure build up evident in the video.
The arcing begins outside the box... Why? Also, the debris has lots of embers, something like you would expect from cheap black powder.

lol what caused that huge spark? as far as i know there is no metal in a box of wine...
And whats with the explosion? the bag that contains the wine is very thin. Its basically just a plastic bag. How can a small plastic bag withstand the amount of pressure needed for the explosion? And howcome the cardboard box itself does not expand with the wine-bag?
Sorry to say this but its fake. But still cool though

#7 A microwave works by bombarding the atoms of the thing inside with radiation. Heat is a result, rather than a process. It basically aggrevates the item on an atomic level, causing it to heat up. If you leave a conductive metal in there it will store up a huge ammount of energy and eventually reach its threshold and fail critically. The longer it takes, the more power, and the greater the energy discharge. Its not about pressure, its about supercharging the aluminium or whatever was in the box until it causes a reaction.

#3, wine heats up, boils, evaporates, creates pressure, and thus boom!!!
look at "is it a good idea to mocrowave this?" they put a bottle of gin in a mocrowave, it blew up (not the glass luckily, the cork thing blew off, all liquid was evaporated, nothing was fluid, and appereantly it smelled quite well)
BUT!!!! there is NO way it could create an explosion this big!! so yes, it's at least partially BS i think

A microwave oven, or a microwave, is a kitchen appliance that cooks or heats food by dielectric heating. This is accomplished by using microwave radiation to heat water and other polarized molecules within the food. This excitation is fairly uniform, leading to food being adequately heated throughout (except in thick objects), a feature not seen in any other heating technique. (wiki)
As for the Retards saying no metal the bags the bloody wine is in is made of metal its foil coated like a pack of chips(crisps) same as putting a CD in a microwave first it will arc like mad then stop and melt same thing could be happening here water absorbs microwaves same reason if theres one tree in the way of a wireless signal between 2 houses it will get much weaker if
there is rain / moisture on the tree as it also uses 2.4ghz microwaves to transmit data
The pressure build up in the box of wine is not seen as the bag is designed to fit very tightly in the box so that during transport on hot days etc there not going to expand and buckel on a pallet , and it was not empty as we see him taking a glass out of it first , those bags are very tight and could easyly make such a explosion.
But as someone pointed out ....the movment of the box was kinda suspisious so as adam and jamie .....plausible but not confirmed

The explanation is simple. When the video skips forward to 4 minutes, the contents of the microwave are exchanged with something rather more volatile than a wine box. In this case, a similar looking box but containing 12 tons of nitroglycerine is substituted in the microwave. The resulting explosion is therefore no surprise.

why would the plates move from the table ontop of the shelf by the explosion ?!
i think those guys where going to mess up the place anyway and did this video for fun. things just dont match up. moving of the box, while explosion the shelf seems empty (no cleaning stuff)

Just to clear this up I know for a fact that there is no way that would happen with a box of wine, first of all wine does not have much alcohol in it to be ignited, secondly if all the alcohol did ignigte there is still 80% water which would stop an explosion like that. Cool video definetly not fake but definetly had something else other than wine do that.

Please don't generalize like that. Microwave ovens use Dielectric heating to heat up water (and almost all food contains some amount of water). Yes, microwave radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation, but to say that it's a electromagnet, that's like saying that a cow produces cheese (when a cow in fact just makes milk which then is made into cheese), or like saying that we breath in oxygen when in fact the air around us is only around 20-21% of the air we breathe (and 78% is fucking Nitrogen).

My dear friends,
First - the microwave oven heats the wine, the box becomes a boiler, the pressure is increasing. Ethanol is evaporating first, because it has lower boiling temperature. When the pressure is big enough to burst the container a spark (in fact many sparks) provoked by the aluminium foil ignites this explosion. If the container was full there wouldn't be enough oxygen in there, and that's because the guy pours a glass.
And that is all.

I bet a bottle of wine would have had a classier explosion

Fake. The exact same explosion is used for both camera angles, just zoomed in a little for the second one. Side by side comparison: http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/5570/picture1dj.jpg
