#5 well... the car is polluting the world, so they are killing these cute birds.
think about that.

This is one of those evolutionary mysteries. This bird has no intermediary or precursory forms in the fossil record. There are birds and humming birds, Nothing in-between. They are also pollinators, Which means certain flowers depend on them to produce seeds.

#10 Humming Birds, obviously are a type of bird, they have all the features a typical bird has, therefore there is an evolutionary link 'in-between' them, regardless of whether or not other birds can hover. Its a trait thats allowed them to live, they're not a completely different class of animal.
Also, almost every flower relies on pollinators to spread its seeds (not produce them).
Still, pretty amazing bird.

#11, you misinterpret what #10 is saying. He's not trying to relate modern birds to modern hummingbirds. He is talking about the lack of fossil records that relate the modern hummingbirds to the most recent ancestor of both the hummingbird and the traditional birds. By the way, fossilization was difficult because the bones of these mini-birds are too fragile and brittle to remain intact in nature.
