#1 listen to the sound. sound travels at 343m per second. Einstein stats that velocity equals momentum*integrity so 343/9.8*3.14. answer is 2.34 meters

i didnt understand #5's calculations, so i decided to add some of my own. this isnt about the speed of sound, its about the falling speed of objects. in this case, we should use the formula 0 = h + v.t + 1/2g.t^2 where t is the time the kitty takes to fall, v is the starting speed (0), g is the acceleration we have (9.8 m/s), and h is the starting height, what we want to know. if im not mistaken, the kitty took about one, or half a second to fall, so im considering 0.75 seconds. replating t in the equation:

0 = h + 0.t + 1/2.9.8.0.75^2 -> h ~= 2.75 meters

#5 i didnt understand your calculations. where did u get that 3.14?

no #(removed comment) it's MY mates house, it's barely 2 meters, but that doesn't matter, cats don't get hurt much from falling

#(removed comment): That comment is always funny :P You got the "thumbs up" from me.
And mods, please DON'T remove comments - I want to know what "#(removed comment)" wrote :'(
It is also very annoying this "Comment rated too low. Show this comment". Aren't we all reading them anyway...?

yeah, i'd go with #12 's calculation, not with #5 's. it has nothing to do with sound speed because we don't see the cat hitting the floor. Even if saw the cat hitting the floor, the speed of sound is more than 300 meters per second so you can't calculate this precisely because the distance is too short.

I'd say the cat falls down for 0.9 second which gives us the height of 3.9 meters. That could be right considering the height of the shelfs should be about 2-2.5 meters plus about 1.5 meters above them is the floor from which the cat fell.

Sorry to read it now mate, but yes 13 is right in his theory, as stated before numbers are simply stupid.

#12 this calculation makes more sense.

#5 your formula is

speed of sound/gravity*pi = the height of this guys patio

lol #21, the fall and resulting speed are so small the air resistance can be ignored :P
air resistance should only be in calculations for very high speeds or very precise calculations ^^

tbh the ammount of time i put there is probably screwing up the end result more than the air resistance being ignored ;p

#12 excellent work. What I'd really like to know is what the hell did it fall onto to make such a loud bang? People always seem to stop filming too soon when things like this happen.

I'm an engineering student so #5 and #12 I'll solve this for both of you so by using v=u+at to start we find that the velocity of the cat reached is about 26 km per hour (16mph) now if you substitute this into Einstein's theory of survival which is will the cat live if it hits the ground travelling so the equation states speed/mass of the object = some thing on the death o metre so 16 mph from the top of the stairs = 1 dead cat so in fact you 2 have wasted your life calculating this and wasted mine by trying to show everyone that you are smarter than everyone, the guy who wanted to know did not ask for physics so there is your answer the cat fell down a stairwell which you should know the approx size of and its probably dead.
