What would be the point of this? Are they trying to speed up global warming or?

It's a company named Copenhagen Suborbitals, They plan on privately launching a man into space. This was a test fire of their main rocket engine.

Looks more like a Saturn V propulsion than a Shuttle thruster, way to go Denmark: my guess be it been built for repositioning and taking sat from low level to geostationary stages, and upcoming modernization of GPS net into OCx net. max

They could have used a can of bug spray and a lighter. The effect would have been the same except on a smaller scale :P

Towards the end of the burn, It looks like a thrust vectoring fail (and yes, I know this doesn't have thrust vectoring). If you were trying to use this engine, the craft would beginning out of control...

#(removed comment) #9 : Rockets dont burn actual gas. Its a special mixture of ethanol, ethines, o2 and hydrogen (and whatnot I am not sure)

but afaik it has few oil derived compounds...
