hehe..i have the same stuff in kinda plastic bag...you put it in boiling water and it gets liquid...inside is a little clicker..when you click it, it becomes hard and really hot. And can be reused about 1000 times. Its great for your neck after a hard day of work..or outside in winter as a pocket warmer. :)

I saw this before. I haven't tried it yet but i want to. Only thing they forgot to mention is the DOSAGE. How much Sodium Acetate to how much water to make an optimal hot-ice-mix?

#1 - No its not cool. Its HOT :D

#3 - Well it probably blends. So why not try eating it. Might burn on the way out though.

So, if it solidifies when "sculpting," why doesn't it solidify when you pour it into a container?

#10 because you pour it in..not let it drip in...same question is..why does nitroglycerin dont explode when you fill it in another bottle..you need to be carefull

Can i load it in a water gun? :P

#12 No, It can cause a chemical burn. So don't think of even doing that. Besides it would likely clog your water gun and make it useless.

Well... Nice vid and yes it's very cool to watch...
BUT!

My job requires me to have a college degree in chemistry and I have been working with substances far more dangerous than Sodium Acetate... Nevertheless, #5 is right in saying that you have to be careful not to put dust in the air while mixing it because it can irritate throat and get your eyes itchy (See section 3 and 4 from http://www.jtbaker.com/msds/englishhtml/s2666.htm for more details) 8-)
To #(removed comment) You must mean ''reversible'' because as soon as the pad is put in boiling water the ''icy'' crystallisation go back to liquid and is ready for use again once cooled ;)
To #6 Solubility for Sodium Acetate is 76g/100ml water @0C(32F), but as said in the vid, in boiling water you have to pour more and more , slowly stirring until no more powder dissolves, then pour liquid in another container to cool... 8-) ;)

Please put glove if you try at home and vent properly cause it smells like vineager when you do it! Have fun!! 8-) >:)

Food
Sodium acetate may be added to foods as a seasoning. It may be used in the form of sodium diacetate — a 1:1 complex of sodium acetate and acetic acid,[1] given the E-number E262. A frequent use of this form is in salt and vinegar chips in the United States. Many US brands, including national manufacturer Frito Lay, sell "salt and vinegar flavored" chips that use this chemical, with lactose and smaller percentages of other chemicals, in lieu of a real salt and vinegar preparation.[2]

So all that shit about how dangerous it is ...and after all that if you add some acetic acid(basically vinegar) and it becomes a harmless food addivtive and i have done this experiment in school as a kid the stuff is bloody harmless my give you a slight rash on you arm if your a totally oversensitive pussy but who is going to be that messy with it fuck sake.

PS MSDS Sheets are bolox i work with chemicals on a day to day basis christsake

http://www.thermo.com/eThermo/CMA/PDFs/Product/productPDF_4701.pdf

Theres one for di-ionized water which is just very very very clean pure H2O which i clean hands with at work if there filthy and there on the msds it says "wash with water, get medical attention if symptoms occur" , try and figure out the sense in that shit :P
