After critics in the media decided to target the president of the U.S. in the aftermath of the BP oil spill, for not "showing enough emotion," Fareed Zakaria decided to express his view on such critics.

I guess it's much better not showing any emotions when a tragedy occurs, than showing the wrong ones under nearly the same circumstances.... like this guy did http://www.snotr.com/video/3028.

Looks like Obama has another apologist (and supporter in the election) in this guy from CNN. The American public is not looking for the President to show emotion, they are expecting leadership from a man who is incapable of it.
Dozens of oil-skimming ships were sailing from other countries to the Gulf to lend a hand in the clean-up but were not allowed close to within 3 miles of the US because of an old 1920's law called the "Jones Act". Some of the best oil-skimming ships in the world are just standing by,unable join in to help.
President Bush waived the Jones Act after hurricane Katrina to allow foreign aid to the people devastated by the storm, but Obama can't make a decision on it even after months of being asked to even by most of his own administration.

#13 You are confusing "honesty" with boot-licking. That India born Muslim on CNN has been an Obama supporter since Obama first started his run for office.

He says the presidency is a serious job. Then says that it's demeaning to expect him to trash talk the head of BP. Well, he trash talks somebody EVERY DAY! Every speech he gives he is trash talking someone! Bankers, car companies, oil companies, Wall Street, insurance companies, the "wealthy", political opponents, entire states, the entire country of America (if he's addressing people overseas) and the list goes on...........

USANumber1 = sux2bu = Oldfart.
He rates down comments multiple times, and pretends to be separate people on those names when he disagrees with someone's stance on any given issue. I have a feeling there are even more, but I haven't noticed any others in the trend I've been seeing with him on the names I mentioned.
Just saying.
PS: Before he tries to say that I support Obama just because I am pointing out his little secret..No, I do not support Barack Obama, or any Democrat/Republican. They are both essentially the same right wing party, continuing the same policies and practices.

#15 the same policies and practices opposed to what? Making rich people pay everything to poor people? And when you do that enough the rich people take their companies and jobs and move it to someplace like Irland where they don't get taxed at all.
Until America understands there is no free ride, nothing will get better. Pull your own weight, that is what made America great.

#15 You are half right,as I established long ago oldfart is a nick I use when I am at home because my brother started that one a long time ago and I like it. sux2bu works in the same office as me and we pretty much think the same way and share a terminal. We sometimes have to fight for our turn to sign-in and make our next comment.
And #15 , in most all your comments about this country you have shown yourself to be an America hater,as in this excerpt from a while back:
"i'll say this again, just as i do with everyone else that likes to use that unoriginal line, "american etc"..
im not a huge fan of most americans or the government (for reasons that are definitely not limited to americans), but to say this is strictly "american" culture is just as ignorant as most americans.."
And is not the only example of your distaste for our country.

What I heard: They have the power to do everything else but when it comes to crisis they are not responsible.... #1 you should be ashamed of yourself

23. Fergus_Thedog commented 13 years ago
USA#1, you suggest that being an 'America hater' somehow invalidates someone's point, presumably because they are biased. If that's the case, surely being an 'America Lover', such as yourself, similarly negates the value of your opinions as they too have been forged in emotion rather than logic.

Let's all not be pro or con Obama for a moment and take a look at it on a third person point of view.
Obama, he really still haven't shown any leadership or actions that have helped the country in any memorable way and the oil spill is still going. While people's focus is to have the oil spill stopped, Obama's focus is way off by making BP pay for the damages of the spill. It is like a criminal killed someone and the Chief officer is blaming the actions on the patrolmen instead of focusing on catching the criminal.
Media, is focusing too much on BP payment and critics to Obama. Rather than just criticizing Obama and his emotions, they should have focused on engineering resolves and how the spill can be stopped. In a way, the media did contributed to the shift of Obama focus. When it comes to media, it is always about who to blame and it pretty much shifted Obama's focus to blame BP and pay for damages instead of what can be done to plug the hole.
So, who is to blame? Stop blaming and start working. What we want is the hole plugged. We can talk about the consequences and resolves later. First thing first.

While I do think creating multiple accounts to post comments on any site is rather childish, can't we just ignore comments like these? All I had to do was look at his Gadsden flag icon (now the tea party flag) to realize this person is beyond reason.
To all tea party members: I am an Independent and I would like to start my own movement, I call it "Reason and Logic." That is all.

You are such a smart arse Oldfart, correcting someone's comment as if it was an English assignment. Unfortunately in the case of 'it's', the apostrophe is no longer possessive. So by saying "Each account rests on it's own laurels" you are actually using a contraction which says "Each account rests on it is own laurels" which makes no sense. Not that i care about grammar, i just wanted to show you how stupid you are. So how about you stop trying to correct people's grammar and head on down to McDonalds and have yourself a few supersized meals and got shot for jumping queue.

The medias are now driven by sensationalism and emotions for the average people to bring information to the mass so the important political matters look like a TV show. It's getting worst every year and it's getting easier for politicians to manipulate the population. We're going to have to wake up someday.

Joke of the day....
A cowboy was attending a social function where Barack Obama was trying to justify to the crowd his lack of action on the Gulf oil spill.
As he was speaking, he kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around his head.
The cowboy says, "Y'all havin' some problem with them circle flies?"
Obama stopped talking and said, "Well, yes, if that's what they're called, but I've never heard of circle flies."
"Well, sir," the cowboy replies, "Circle flies hang around ranches. They're called circle flies because they're almost always found circling around the back end of a horse."
"Oh," Obama replies as he goes back to rambling. But, a moment later he stops and bluntly asks, "Are you calling me a horse's ass?"
"No, sir," the cowboy replies, "I have too much respect for the citizens of this country to call their president a horse's ass."
"That's a good thing," Obama responds and begins rambling on once more.
After a long pause, the cowboy says, "Hard to fool them flies, though."

#25 The tea party people did not adopt the Gadsden flag until 2009.
The flag represents one of the earliest US Marine actions against the British (1775) and is a symbol of patriotism and freedom from government over-taxation.
If you see that as a bad thing then that shows what side you are on. Keep sipping that cool-aid.
