TanDEM-X launch

The former nuclear intercontinental rocket "Dnepr" used as launcher for a German satellite mapping the globe at high resolution. After the first impulse lifts it out of the silo, it stabilizes and then starts it's main stage.

#4 Several ballistic missiles do that, It's done to avoid damaging the tube/launcher and, In the case of a submarine launch, Propel the missile above the water.

Mankind is in such a primitive stage when you look at "rockets". Would be fun to fast forward 1-2k years.

Somebody really knows how to make a really cool thing, really boring.

A little splicing, a little music, a little slow-mo, could really do some wonders here.

in total agreement with #9, unless not thinking of actually being 'born ballistic', for usual rocketry approach it gets pretty localize'able once you get through those first four minutes, which makes me think of common neighbours fightin' upon the same parking spot in front of the their block of flats: ..I can't tell the place, nor the artillery army corps it should belong (is it late afternoon they launched it: anyone?!).

After having watched many Space Shuttle launches this vid is pretty boring.
