I feel terribly sad for that woman, the kid is very likely autistic, no amount of smacking or threats are likely to make any difference. If I'm wrong, sure he needs hanging from a lamppost.

People don't realise that one in a hundred births results in a child with autism. You could be a great looking woman with a great job, have a great looking husband also with a great job, decide to have a baby and this is what you get. Takes over your entire life one second at a time. Violence out of nowhere, tantrums, can't take him or her anywhere without knowing when the bomb is going to go off. Marriages often split up, you can't work, your world ends up being nothing like you imagined. Eventually there is a good chance that the child becomes too much too handle, too powerful, potentially dangerous, will possibly never get a job and ends up in an institution.

Obviously I'm describing the extreme end of autism, many autistic people are nothing like this and just have a variety of social issues. Just remember 1 in 100, 10 in a 1000 that's getting on for 70,000,000 autistic people on the planet right now. Three million two hundred and seventy million in the USA alone. Add that to the 247,000,000 who believe in God in America, that leaves just 80.000.000 people in America you could have a sensible conversation with.
