I would not risk my life to a single hook joint to the ladder (seen 0:40). Thankfully this is a viral ad and not a bunch of idiots doing it for real.

Now lets wait for the bunch of idiots to do it for real. And then the fail videos which will follow.

Viral ads. Im sure that its based on real people doing it in real life. But seriously can you imagine someone actually relying on that ladder climbing buildings at that height? Its just a matter of time before something goes wrong throwing yourself out like that.

Hook ladders have been around since the first fire brigades. I was in one of the last classes through the London Fire Brigade Training Centre in Southwark in 1981 to use them. To pass the course I had to go "Over the top", climb one side if the tower by hook, do a parapet mount at the top (that is, step over the top of the ladder) then clib back down. Seven stories, it was a great view.

Hook ladders were withdrawn in the mid 80's. There are loads more Google links if you look for the term Hook Ladder.
