#16 The car shown in the video is a Corvette Stingray "concept" car that was used in the movie Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen portraying the Autobot Sideswipe.
The actual 2011 Corvette ZR1 blows the doors off ALL the Japanese and European production supercars in straight-line acceleration AND the twisty road courses. Clarkson won't have the balls to admit that fact but he is well aware of it.
>>>>>>>From a previous snotr posting:<<<<<<
Here are the top eight fastest production car's times at a very twisty German race-course. Other than a race-prepped Viper that had been tuned for that track the ZR1 is the fastest.

I don't know why this car has a motorized hood....do they expect that you open it every single day?

#22 Well I guess you do not understand the meaning of "production" cars. It means cars that are produced in mass to be sold to the public. The first 6 cars listed in your wiki list are special built race models except for the brand new limited-production Porsche GT2RS ($245,000). It IS very fast.
After those 6 cars the list reads about the same as the one above starting with the race prepped Viper. The second car in the list is a ZR1 Corvette that wiki evidently was not aware of and then @ number 6 is another ZR1 driven by an engineer, not a race driver. Both ZR1's were running on stock street tires. Here is a link to the 7:22.4 time for the ZR1.

Are we done now?

What a useless vehicle, but I guess if you're rich you don't care about practicality.

why do modern prototypes always look like one of those "cars of the future" from a Kinder Surprise egg?

#(removed comment) You must not have looked at the link at #25 . With an actual professional driver the ZR1 knocked 4 seconds off its previous time. There is no video of that run so it is considered unconfirmed. Just wait until the run is done again with race tires and a track-tuned suspension , it should knock-off another 10 seconds. What amazes me is the fact that this is a push-rod engine, not overhead cam.
"While Porsche and Nissan continue to argue over the Nissan GT-R Nurburgring Nordschleife lap time of 7:29, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 knocked another 4 seconds off it’s already blazing fast time of 7:26.4.
Driver Jan Magnussen, a race car driver from Denmark and a GM factory driver, took the Corvette ZR1 around the Nordschleife in 7:22.4. That makes the Corvette ZR1 faster than the Ferrari Enzo, Pagani Zonda F Clubsport and Maserati MC12
. However it’s still slower than the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR which did it in 7:22.1."

#33 The Veyron did its fastest lap @7:40 . Because it is so heavy it can not corner with the lower HP yet more agile supercars. In a long straight line the Bugatti would leave them all behind.
Scroll down to the 7:40's to find the Veyron.

#20 The ZR1 does not 'blow the doors off all the Japanese and European production supercars in straight-line acceleration AND the twisty road courses.' But it certainly competes very strongly against them.
