Gotta love them seatbelts!!
It looks like the steering wheel got locked up because they didn't have the key turned enough. However, I would think that it would have locked up before they got going 300mph
(50mph I think they said)
Sometimes it hurts watching dumb people
I'm glad they are OK.

Was it the steering wheel that got stuck or the driver being on the phone and was so intent on the speed that he wasn't watching where the other driver went? It looks like the tow rope stays pretty tight through the turn, so I don't know how it would have become tangled around a wheel. What would cause the steering to lock up like that if the key's in the ignition and turned?

The tower should lose license after this, totally irresponsible.

That was a pretty newb type of mistake. Everyone I driver I have met knows that the steering locks without the keys turned. =/
Also, good point #12.. I do think some car brakes don't work without key in the ignition though as well!

@trancetunes
All cars will break, even with the ignition turned off. The problem is that the servo vacuum helper isnt getting any vacuum from the manifold since the motor is off or your electrical servo helper motor isnt running so you have to press the pedal much harder than normal to break.

Here's a question: Why did they feel it necessary to film this? Did they know that they would screw up a simple towing job? Kind of like these guys... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3ZCRiH_340

#15 Handbrake never fails , but ya what a stupid mistak,e and the WORST thing of all is this WAS a tuned up sports car with turbos and what not ....these are the kind of people who drive 150mph down the motorway and if there dumb enough to make a mistake like this just think what there like with the thing running.
And i love the way he said we just had a bad accident . omg you twat you hit a tree no more than 5 inches wide boohoo next time buy a motorbike least he wont have a problem with a steering lock

why that fckg idiot that was driving did not turn? you can clearly see him not even attempting to turn. what a douche

O.K. first off we tow like this all the time, sometimes a tow truck is not a viable solution. Second don't let the goober driving do 90mph, you can do this by using the brake. When you use this method of towing the car being towed is used to stop the car doing the towing. This keeps the line/chain/rope/cable tight. Third, don't be a dumb ass. Think about what you are doing and realize you can kill someone when you make a mistake.
