It spins because squirrels are bird feeder pests. They steal loads of food from bird feeders, hence the weird spinning contraption. Looks like it kinda works..... Not really hehe. Squirrels are very smart/tenacious when it comes to getting food.

That is an evil birdfeeder. :)
Actually, I never uderstood why people feed birds anyway - all they do to thank you is shit all over your porch and car.
