This man is a comedic genius, along the same lines as Bill Hicks!

When in human history has this not been the case?
The only difference nowadays is that the dumb and loud don't understand it, quite the opposite, they think they're free.

#(removed comment) Calling George Carlin anti-american is certainly something of a long stretch, and even though you don't find him funny dosen't mean the rest of us don't.

Resorting to calling the smartest comedian that ever lived bad names, because you can't look beyound your own small political agenda, well that just says a awful lot about you.

R.I.P. George Carlin

#5 You're certainly putting a LOT of words in my mouth. I didn't call Carlin anti-american. I called this VIDEO anti-U.S. Which... it very clearly is, however justified or unjustified. As far as my "small political agenda" goes, I don't like anti-country-x propaganda all over Snotr, no matter who or what it is directed towards. This site is better than that kind of bigotry.

I've watched a lot of Carlin's stuff over the years, and he can be quite funny, but this is just him being angry.

Without getting too into this political theory crap- welcome to the world of capitalism. Everyone of us is born into it, and because of that, we think this is the norm of life. Just like communism, monarchy, feudalism etc, every single one of them has their down falls.
I guess what he's getting at is at least in capitalism, it gives you the perception of actually 'making it' in life....for a minority of this world anyway.

No, this VIDEO is not "anti-U.S.".

Let me put it to you as simply as I can. A video by itself is just a dumb media, and isen't actually capable of expressing its "own" opinions, it can only be used to express someone elses opionins.
So youre saying the video has an anti-american message, well I don't see anyone else in the video other than George Carlin, so please, enlighten me, whose opion does it express other than George Carlin's then?

BTW. George Carlin was a patriot. Doesn't mean you can't think, express your opinions and observations. Don't hate the First Amendment man, protect it.

Well if it wasn't for the title, I thought he was talking about my country...Italy, but I think this monologue would fit for any other country. It's always the same story over and over, and personally I'm quite bored of hearing it again and again. This is how things are going and sadly, at least in my opinion, this is the human nature and it's really hard if not impossible to change over short times.

I'm sorry but only if you express negatively you're are expressing your opinion. My opinion is that this video is just simply nonsense. The rich people don't control the USA. That's why we have created democracy. The only thing is that USA citizens like to idea that there country is ruled by someone else or even something else.

Democracy? Do you really think you live in one? You don't! The last democracy died out roundabout 2000 years ago.

What we live in (in the US, in the UK, in france, germany, japan and a whole lot of other countries is a representative democracy, which is about as different from democracy as it could get. We elect a few people, call them politicians and let them decide.

So if someone wants to control the system he only has to control a few and not the whole population. And the next thing we do is to allow lobbyism. So whoever wants to control the system just needs money and good lobbyists to get what he really wants.

I do not believe in some Organization or Club who controls my every move, but I do believe that some really rich guys use our so called democracy against us just to get richer.

Companies like SERCO should never have come to existance, there shouldn't be a lobby for the interests of the oil industry or the weapon industry or the cigarette industry and I still wait for an eloquent answer why we need those lobbies that isn't total BS.

We haven't had great leaders since TV was invented, except for Regan. Now you have to look good on TV and be rich to win an election. The smartest people are rairly good looking. Look at our history and how down right ugly some of our early presidents were, they would never get elected now.

#14 Well put , Only in america can they legalize cannabis only to raid the shops now and then!!

Same in Ireland WE are supposed to live in a democracy (meaning ruled by the people) but I never had a choice when the government started bailin out anglo irish bank and then doing it again using OUR tax money , they look after there own asses and thats it they have no care in the world about the common man and his life all they care about is making more money.

I mean f*ck sake they take a few months holiday on us every year , even our so called Taoiseach (prime minister) was on a morning time radio show a few weeks back Either DRUNK or very very hungover.

Even worse a week later

This might be all true but he only sounds like an old defeatist geezer who is not able to speak about or propose a single solution.

Oh wait, but that's not what the crowd wants to hear. Talk about manipulation of the masses, yeah right.

Carlin has no right to complain about our Government or the US in general since he did not even vote in our elections.Much of his comedy in his early years was funny, but the old alcoholic/drug abuser turned cynical in his old age and just became an oddity. He rags on the very system that allowed him to become wealthy.
