Isn`t this getting a bit too old. These things wouldn`t happen if the American government respected the rules and played fair. Most of people doesn`t want to do these things in their names and doesn`t agree with these acts. Now is just act like big bully and try to cover things up.

I just wonder how many people would lost there lives with this. Some diplomats will lose their jobs for sure.But why would they say these things in the first place.

Whenever a "spokesperson" "represents" anonymous, you have to take this with a grain of salt.

#2 You may know that the "9000 people" and "don't know how to internets" are 2 "internet meme" that have been popular in the anonymous community for some time. The fact that this "representative" uses them is a clear indication of his intention to "lulz" at the expense of the reporter.

Anonymous does not have representatives, it does not have a structure, it does not have one single goal. Anonymous is everyone and no one.

#13 At this point it doesn't even matter. Do you really think your government has been playing fair for last decades? It's not about state secrets and intelligence sources. US gov is insanely corrupted and corporations is what controls the USA nowadays. Assagne's motives may be vague and could turn out to be somehow unidealistic but people deserve to know what happens behind the curtains.

#13 That is exactly the point of Anonymous, there is no structure, there are no leaders, there is no agenda, there are no controls.

Anonymous is everyone and it is no one. It is a manifestation of our collective consciousness, our aspirations, our despair.

There is no organization that the police can infiltrate, there is no breadcrumb trail to follow. You can't go after these people like you go after any other group of people. Anonymous don't know each other, they have no IRL contact with one another. They don't meet outside their online channels, no one can rat on the others. There is no head office to raid, no cars to follow, no phone to tap. Lastly you can't tell the difference between someone who's computer was hacked and someone who volunteered for the action.

One second you are part of Anonymous, the second you are just another internet user. The justice system requires names, they have none. The police needs to build evidence over weeks, months, Anonymous unite and dissolve over night.

Somehow this situation reminds me of actions in the 90's. There was an 11 year old kid that had developed a worm or something that took 1 cent of every account there was in America dropping the economy with 1% if i am correct. Then over a time of 2 - 3 years very much did change. Laws, Computer security, etc. I think we are at a point that it will happen again but a bit diffrent and that very much is gonna change in a very short timespan.

Oh BTW....I Think many governments have a problem right now....

All who believe in the power of numbers, the power of a collective consciousness, collective action against the things they believe to be wrong and with those who they believe to be right, will prevail.

The majority is always right. There is no way around it. Action is the key. If people disagree with the things anonymous do, then they should act against, then in return they are anonymous.

...but this cyber 'warfare' is NOT the way to do it. when you think critically about it--it equates to undermining business, governments, and individual's rights--exactly what they claim to support.

IMO, what they should do is create a FORUM for support of freedom of information, and lobby and seek support from governments. not just force their policy on business and individuals (namely credit institutions and prominent individuals) they 'don't care' about sarah palin, what's to stop them from 'not caring' about you, should you speak your mind?)

#28 just so you know, the companies they have been targeting were acting politically. Some of them are already facing legal prosecution because breaking contracts set in place because of political motivation is illegal.

What this group is doing, is showing that the community is angered at these big corporations acting politically. If you have done any research at all (which it is obvious you have not), you will find that DDoSing is not the only thing that has been going on. Many thousands of people have cancelled their paypal accounts, many thousands of eCards were sent to Fox news (for Lulz), and many other protests have been taken around the world. This news report was only focusing on one such protest.

#15 Listen to yourself. What you're describing is the worst thing possible. A group of vigilantes who hack into companies, systems, governments and departments that THEY deem corrupt. Who are they to give themselves that power? Were the people or entities they hack and damage given a fair "trial"? Were they given due process?
They weren't elected. And if they were appointed by some authority, we should know who they are so they can be held accountable.
You make them out to be heroes for behaving just like the people or groups they are attacking.
How long before it's necessary for another group to rise up and attack the corrupt, lawless and unaccountable "Anonymous"? How long before the "heroes" become the "villains"?
They should be congratulated for creating a situation where innocent people will be harmed and killed for their self proclaimed "just cause".

#32 Stop being so naive. These are not like a sit in. These actions have real consequences on real people. This isn't the Sims.
So you're able to tell me that no one was kept from paying for life sustaining medication because Visa and Mastercard being tampered with prevented it.
And don't even try to tell me that it's not possible because a credit card was a lifeline for my wife who was a heart and kidney transplant patient.
This is just one of a million possible "unintended consequences" of their actions that they (or you)aren't smart enough to think of. Or maybe they (or you) don't care.
Typical. You want "accountability" for everyone but you. And you think the laws are made by you and apply to everyone but you.

#33 Based on what you said, everyone deserved to be able to live off of their credit, but it is okay with you that the people of WikiLeaks can't live off of their actual income. If someone died because they're credit card didn't go through, it is not Anonymous' fault that a life would depend on credit any more that it is the PayPal's fault if someone from WikiLeaks died because their assets were frozen.

That being said, you have three choices:
1. Blame Anonymous and PayPal for endangering people's lives for no good reason
2. Hold neither group accountable for the welfare of other people (I vote this)
3. Completely retract your statement and retain what dignity you have left.

You must understand that the RESPONSIBILITY works both ways. If you choose to denial service for your personal political views maybe the same denial will slap you back.

You are saying HOW MANY LIVES MAY TAKE REAL CONSEQUENCES from these events BUT HOW MANY LIVES WILL BE SAVED with these actions.If the companies just learn their lesson from this.This bond of companies and government is just a tool to achieve their corrupted goals.

I am happen to be in the country where the most of the ruling party is getting arrested and the president of the ruling party is being prosecuted.If similar event like wikileaks happend in my country i would embrace it just beacuse they say that something is not right in your country.
