#8 go ahead, pat squishy and you shall live for another half hour, no more. These things kill touchy-feely people very fast by completely shutting down the central nervous system, and all you have to do is touch it. They are reasonably common in coastal Australian rock pools.

I heard that Sony's going to use blue ring octopus skin to manufacture their Bravia screens.

Its the top 10 most deadly animals in the world.

"there is no known antidote for its powerful venom. It causes motor paralysis, eventually leading to cardiac arrest"

but it looks very pretty

#10 "all you have to do is touch it"

No, it will have to bite you as its venom is in its saliva... but its still pretty dangerous ;)

#10 #13 no doubt they are deadly, but in all my fossicing of the south coast I have never encountered one. They are timid and mystical creatures. Just saying ...

It could just be me, but it looks more like it's being pulled around by a string than actually moving, but I don't know, I've never seen an octopus swimming before.
