Coyotes and foxes that come that close to humans are usually rabid.

Something fishy about this situation. This animal has got to be somewhat "humanized" by it's behavior. #2 observation about no growling and this breed tends to roam in small packs. Dunno for sure though. Can't wait to hear what other comments will post.

Luckily, the Coyote in Missouri where I am at are more laid back. They have food everywhere in the wild still. I have actually pet a wild pack leaders head in front of the 6 following him. He was pretty cool. This one was just playing with him even a single angered or really hungry would take him he didn't seem to have any defensive weapon or anything.

He looks well groomed for a BC Coyote, most are suffering from mange. I would say he's been domesticated somewhat. And judging from the authors reactions he's been feeding and or reacting with the k9

@16 ... agree with you, the coyote appears to be a tame animanl. Behaving playfully, not about food as it appears. If it was hungry and wanting food I suppose it probably would behave in a very different manner.

For the first poster, I don't think rabies is a factor in this case. Actually many wild animals are becoming more and more used to humans. During the harvesting of crops many coyotes will wait on the edge of the fields for the farmers to start cutting and low and behold the mice and other critters are now out in the open. Only two people have died in more than fifty yrs from a coyote attack. They are skittish but not totally afraid.
They are beautiful animals and so are foxes. With that said they are much nicer to view out in the wild than hanging in someones home.
