Umm, they don't actually show any film of them landing safely.
There could be a big of dead snakes

Now I am more concerned walking in the forest not only on the ground but also above me?

#9 i saw a documentary on this before.. they tested and filmed the snakes and studied the results on a computer with 3d models.. the snake flattens its body to create a natural airfoil when the snake moves while in air... as a result, there is some minimal aerodynamic lift that enables the snake to glide further..
so actually, in a mechanical/scientific sense... yes the snake does fly (sort of)
#5 in the documentary it does land safe, many many times
actually, they only used one snake for all the times that they filmed it flying off the stick

One of the guys I work with is deathly afraid of snakes. I can't wait to tell him they can fly.

#13 As I genuinely hadn't read your comment when I thought of mine, I'm going to type it anyway. 'Oh for fuck sake, don't teach them how to fly to'
