The father and reel inventor of the theremin instrument and other electrical machines. The sound was used in most of the Sci Fi/UFO films from that era:

Sounds like they are drawing on a mouse's ass. Great idea though, modulating the pitch with electrical resistance. Where were toys like that when I was in school?

They used a theremin to make the original Star Trek Theme song. I got that little trivia tidbit from 'the big bang theory'
