#3
It says retard because the pilots has to "retract" the throttles to idle. Just a reminder to them.

That is absolutely insane to have to land a plane in that kind of fog.

There was very little skill in this. It's not about that. In this type of approach, the Autopilot takes the plane onto the runway. This is about how great technology is, not how skilled a pilot is. Hell, the plane may still have managed this even if the pilot was back there taking a dump.

That was insane. Much respect for the pilots.. glade they didn't end up on an episode of Air Crash Investigation

Try to land a plane in flight sim, not using your screen...

This is like driving a car in winter on highway with no windshield washer fluid and/or no wipers. And letting the autopilot take over control (cruise control). 8-)

so, there's an ocean nearby, facing north, north-west, winds usually form north-west, it's rather morning landing, no mounts nearby either, cause plane approach is calm and mostly in straight line, so not very busy strip either, not very busy 20km approach. clearly not asian pilots, neither african nor indian, far from russian, hw bout Canada - are there doubts on Ontario, Quebec, anyone ?!

#6 Should just remind them, it's a little immature to start calling the pilot names.

I don't know why people are voting my comment down. The AUTO-PILOT landed this, not the pilot: To quote from wikipedia, A CAT IIIB is: "a runway visual range less than 200 meters (656 ft) but not less than 75 meters (246 ft). Autopilot is used until taxi-speed. In the United States, FAA criteria for CAT III B runway visual range allows readings as low as 150 ft."

On MythBusters, Jamie was trying to land a plane in a simulator and he said,

"Did the plane just tell me not to think?"

Funny stuff.

The actual quote was, "Don't Sink!"

#3 and 6#, "retard" is french for "slow". But yes, #6 you are correct but not for the reason you think :p So it is a reminder to ease of the throttle, but they are literally being told simply to "slow down".
