What a striking parallel to slavery where slaves were forced to perform and entertain their masters to avoid punishment. He was probably scared out of his mind for fear of his life or well being. This is not cute. Actually, it was quite sad. It smacks of the oppressor (maybe an oppressor who maybe unaware of the underlying power dynamic) employing the oppressed for his enjoyment.
