Look closely at around 1:51. It looks like the head turns as his arm goes by it. As if the little man is looking at the magician, and then back at the audience. Look closely :O

right as he moves his hand up to snap his fingers.

The guy was probably in the trunk the whole time, behind a false back wall, and the poster draped over the front following the head roll allowed him to get out and shove the suit parts behind him while unseen.
