How do those guys get the nerve to try again after fails like that?! Some of those were trips to the ER for sure.

I dont like the message in this video, somehow made by a freerun hater. Technically, you can make video of fails + hard pain for many many sports.
If you take only images of accidents, many sports can look painful or deadly :
Rally, skating, skiing, snowboarding, rollerblading, F1 racing, biking, football (both US and European),...
So I have nothing against seing a video of fail saying "be careful", but thats not a reason to be a hater and say "dont do it its stupid".

Okay, you talked me out of my desire to parkour with some very convincing arguments.

I have more respect for these guys after seeing this. To pursue a sport that has no environmental impact (name another), to be that creative with nothing but what urban planners put there, and to do so risking that is pretty impressive.

and btw, DON'T FREEUN?

thanks for this video. Not that I like pictures of injures. But thanks for the clear message "Don't freerun"!
For me even successful freerunners are not real heroes, because the price for the nice presentation is to risk healthy. For me all those extreme dangerous sports are the continuation of the old roman gladiators, who have lost their right to live and who can only get it back by risking their life. Men with sane self-confidence can train sports, which don't endanger healthy. Real heroes don't risk their life exorbitantly. Formula one per example for me meanwhile makes more fun for spectating, than downhill-cycling, because at Formula one I don't expect severe injured pilots so frequently in contrary to downhill. And I say this as a bicycling enthusiast and car critic person.

The message is: It isn't as easy as it looks in the highlight reel. People fuck themselves up trying this stuff, so... this is a graphic 'Don't try this at home' warning. Some sports/activities are by their nature more dangerous than others and free running is way up there compared to some of the stuff you mentioned.

Also I've never heard of a free running hater.

#19 Nobody calls them heros..just athletic (if they are successfull). And how is freerun and/or Parcour (dunno the diff.) much different than normal olympic athletes? Beside they do it on a street enviroment..
Those athletes that do all this flic flac and flips also had to learn it somehow and failed here and there..and that on a matt that is just as hard as a lawn or sand..if not harder. People who do their first try on hard concrete are stupid by question..but how is parcour different to athletics besides they do it outside and not in a gym?
And your F1 agrument is F1 happened just as many bad accidents..they are just lucky to have a steel frame around them..wich dont protects them well from injuries either..outside injuries yes..brain damage or inside injurys..umm..nope. Each and every sport got its dangers..and you need to train hard and know what you do..or what your body is able to handly. Freerun is just more known for fails since people like to see the fails and too many idiots who try the most badass tricks right aways (maybe also drunk) in enviroment they dont know. So its not freerun/parcour whats dangerous..its dumbasses who think they can do everything on the first try =P

#1. It's called ambition. You're not born with perfection. Keep practice until you master the trick. 8-)
#2. Some of them go to gym to train, but in this sport the street represents the practice area.
1:26 fake.
