I think he would have been better off to pull the lever to drive out of the way, at least he'd have a metal cage to try and protect him... But I do not know of it would be that easy or if there is some for of 'handbrake' equivalent...

the building was compromised if you look at the supports they look very worn in the middle like explosives were used and failed ...so they brought in the big jack hammer shacking the ground trying to get it to "slowly fall down" physics people physics !

The worker was most likely just a part time migrant worker. The employer can get another worker in a second. From the employer's point of view that was a dam good demo machine that was damaged!
