I would call this fake, just because they never put the camera over the hole to be seen.

So, if my calculations are right, this hole would be over 600 meters deep.
It took 12 seconds from throwing the rock until it was heard falling on the bottom. That would be
0.5 * G * t^2 = 0.5 * 9.81 * 12^2 = 706 meters.
But from such a deep pit it takes the sound a few seconds to reach the top all the way from the bottom, so subtract a second or so to take that in account.
Still leaves an incredibly deep pit, can this be real ?

This is not just any hole. This is a shelter, made by Bear Grylls.
Maybe later on he throws the rock back up with a note on it that says "I'm trying to get some sleep down here! GTFO!"

#5 Bear would still be at the top trying to 'fill it with piss'.

Are they trying to drill to the center of the Earth and set off a series of nuclear explosions in order to restart the rotation of Earth's core?

#4 Zevv you forgot to take into account terminal velocity. I've made a big assumption that the rock's TV is 150mph (based on a skydiver's TV being about 120mph).
Anyway, it would reach that after 7 secs or so, so it is no longer accelerating.
Accounting for the time taken for the sound to come back up the hole, you're looking at a depth of just over 500 metres.
Of course, there are other factors as well as the guessed TV. It assumes the air density is constant (it won't be), so the speed of the sound from it hitting the bottom and the drag on the rock will change depending on where they are in the shaft. Also, you can hear it hitting the wall a couple of times on the way down. If these are ledges like on the graphics intro to the IT crowd, they will have a big effect.

Also like 0.43 of a mile... still a pretty deep hole! if there's a stench coming out of it there is probably dead things inside it

I have worked quite a few construction sites that involve extensive, that is to say expensive excavation work. I can imagine the scene that would take place if a project superintendent watched this happen at his job site.
“HEY YOU!!! GALILEO!!! THAT'S RIGHT, I'M TALKING TO YOU!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH THIS JOB IS COSTING IN EQUIPMENT HOURS ALONE? WHERE DID YOU GET THE BRIGHT IDEA TO THROW ROCKS INTO MY HOLE!?!?!?”
Now I know that last question would require maturity and restraint not normally associated with the stereotypical construction worker, particularly if the boss was one of those guys whose eyes bug out and spit flies out of his mouth when he yells, but the consequences of the typical response, a pink slip in the pay envelope, would make most of us hold our tongue.
