Schwerer Gustav 800mm 1942

Maybe the biggest artillery ever made. Translation is not needed since there is no technical info, it is an old propaganda video. Just look how big that gun is. (Let's not argue about the past now, this videos is about the gun, not history.)

Can you imagine that our civilization leaves Earth and a new unadvanced civilization finds those cannons. It would be completely like science fiction movies.

Could probably only fire those things a handful of times before they would need to be completely repaired.

@16 Indeed, thanks. And to answer #13: "the barrel was estimated to have a life of about 150 rounds"

Another senseless german weapon. And I am allowed to say that, cause I am german :)
The Nazis had some kind of size problem.... Building such a monster...stupid.
The Allies would have used the engineering time and material to build some easy-to-repair and exchangable thing like the Sherman tanks.

#22 true that.."the guy who shall not be named" had a big issue with size..always wanted more than he could handle, no matter the cost. Another example is his unfinished Arena.
(allowed to say that..german too)

i wonder who should be pleased of this mass destruction propaganda. that is like whitewashing agent orange, napalm children, the atomic bomb. theres nothing to be proud of. "war. war never changes" (fallout)

At the 1:21 mark, that big gun reminds me of the two from the movie "Guns of Navarone".

#22 and #23 It's called wanting it all; greed; power too much never brought any good to man. I just don't see the point of the weapon requiring so many people and the barrel cannot even turn? Why not invest into something more versatile.

In those days the people calculated the angle etc manually

Do Angry Birds/Bunny Shooter games also prepare us to use big things like this secretly? :(

Damn that's a huge gun! Well actually the gun doesn't seem so amazing, but the ammunition. If there's a WW3 I doubt they would even have the resources to make ammunition this big...
