95% music downloads are illegal. The rest are purchased by mac users.

Music as a form of art and emotional expression should be openly available, whilst the artists are credited

hehe..the first pirates are not mentioned...before the internet there also people recorded on casette from public FM Radios and spread it..or one bought a vinyl (LP) and copied it to a casette (MC) and also sold those..those were the first pirates =)
And i bet the younger viewers ask now what a LP or MC is..hehe

#1 How I first found snotr was for my devotion to mininova when they used to be a 'proper' torrent site!(ahh good old days)

Love the fact on vinyl , still the only true source of great music and played on the right equipment still the most crisp clear sound , As much as I love my computer and even though I a half descent sound card.

My records still sound better and more original than any digital recording I have (even Flac audio files I bought online that are meant to be studio quality sound still sound flat compared )

#1 There isn't only illegal stuff distritbuted via Torrent. A lot of music licensed under Creative Commons is being shared by this protocol too. Many amazing and talented, yet unknown, artists are using this sort of transportation.
Just look for it, it's out there! :)

Aside from the fact that 95% of music downloads are illegal, really sad is the following. Many artists don't even see much of the money earned by selling records. Most of it goes straight to the company like those shown above. Just a minimal percentage is reserved for the musicians themselves ...

Well-known and successful musicians on the other hand earn the biggest percentage from merchandise, concerts and so on. So for most small artists it is hard to live on making music alone ... This has to change, if you ask me.

By the way, #6, your comment reminds me of this: :D

1:30 - 1,380,000 guitars a year is a lot but it's not equal to one every second. One a second would be over 30,000,000 a year!
