"Further, U.S. households had become increasingly indebted, with the ratio of debt to disposable personal income rising from 77% in 1990 to 127% at the end of 2007, much of this increase mortgage-related."

In other words, we the people have created the national debt problem, penny by consumptive penny:

Yet, he does have a point about how we have stopped dreaming:

So sad to see a great nation to fall under the spells of corporation paid politicians and backed up by religious wackos.

Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die,
Life is a broken winged bird,
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams go,
Life is a barren field
Filled with snow.

-Langston Hughes

What are the dreams of our children today?

Going to the moon? Becoming a world changing leader? Solving the cancers and plagues that torment this world?

or

Winning the lottery, easy living, big houses, fancy cars, personal gain...

Do we challenge them to grapple with the mysteries that haunt us still: What is the meaning of life? What does it meant to live a good life? How do I become a better person?

or do we deflect these important questions for material gain to buy material happiness...

We have become too consumed by greed. Those in power want to take the remaining thirty trillion barrels of oil from the Earth and bleed it dry just to stay rich and in power. It is western economical greed and short-sightedness which will destroy us.... if we let it.

I've been saying it for years... greed is what corrupts people. It's all about money. Pathetic.

How can people "dream" when we're being mind controlled to be obedient worker ants through school. You don't want people thinking, you want them to be working so you can make more money. If people are thinking they will start asking questions. You can't have that.

It's sad that no matter how much we complain and how wrong government rolls, it will not change but that should not keep us away from achieving our own dreams. Props to some common sense on this site :)...

"Who in their right mind would put the entertainment complex in the middle of the sewage system." Neil's take on intelligent design. Had me giggling for days.
