It is so funny and ironic that religious people are supposed to be the "morally right" ones; and yet they curse so much and wish non-religious people to "die slowly" as i quote. >:)

I believe in God and I read the bible. And still laughed along, although part of me feeling a bit sad at the irony of all that hate mail.

Not one letter from a Pastafarian. The Flying spaghetti monster loves all for we shall all soak in his warm marinara when we pass on to the great hereafter.

Certainly religion has evolved, no longer burning people they disagree with them but send hate emails, not quite the effect of the former but at least you don't have to leave your couch to sharpen a pitchfork and miss American Idol. :)

When I was a child they told me about Santa , the Easter bunny and God....

Easter bunny brought me chocolates that I can eat , Santa brought me presents each year , God ......

And they wonder why people loose faith ? They lied no problem about the first too

#13 it's not sad and dangerous to believe in god, it's sad and dangerous to believe in your right to kill people who don't believe in god ( or wish them slow, agonising death )

That is one smug man! If man is just a random collection of molecules then I suppose arrogance isn't something to try and avoid.

If the theory of evolution is true then we should be able to see changes from generation to generation of ALL living things for example we should be able to dig up hundred year old bones examine them very closley and see small changes in the structure of the human body,to my knowledge that has not happened after all to evolve means to change the make up an organisim no matter how small.when I put that question to those who beleve in evolution I am met with blank stares. They argue man has changed and point to "cave men" and how those bones are different than man today,my response is then 500 year old bones should also be different than man today and they are not if evolution is true than all things must continue to evolve and can not stop that process.

Once again this reaffirms my extreme distaste for religion. With that being said.. I think I shall go build a shrine to Barney and walk across my pool to do so.
Picture of makbeth36 achievements

#25 that is not how evolution works exactly. Not so much a constant unilateral change but a slight variation from generation to generation. Eventually a few generations down the line, only the most dominant genes from each ancestor survive. Beings adapt to their environment, but by any change in the being themselves. So if the world were 6ft under water people would probably either get taller or become natural swimmers. Not a magical change, just that everyone else would die. Tall, strong swimmers would be left to re-populate the earth. The world changes far more subtly and slowly than that though. You would possibly have to go back to the last ice age to notice any major difference across all peoples.

Well Santa represents Christmas, which is really about God sending Jesus to earth as a baby. And the Easter bunny is for Easter which is really about Jesus dying on the cross to save you and me from Hell. So yeah, that's what God gave you.
Picture of Sebastien45 achievements

-1 29. Sebastien commented 12 years ago

#24 Evolutionary biology doesn't say that "man is just a random collection of molecules"
Just like #25 you don't understand evolution well enough to criticize it correctly, so you have to misrepresent it to take it down more easily.

And as for #28: you really don't know that Christmas and Easter were pagan festivals before the Catholics incorporated them into their religion? Santa, really?
Picture of soccerisgreat148 achievements

0 30. soccerisgreat14 commented 12 years ago

#29 I meant to say that to #10. Yeah I know what you're talking about with Saturnalia, not with Easter though. Why are mentioning this though? Everyone knows what Christmas and Easter currently represent. Let's not live in the past now.
Picture of Sebastien45 achievements

-2 31. Sebastien commented 12 years ago

#10 Yes IT IS the same with Easter. The spring festivals are celebrating the return of nature's fertilty, hence the eggs and the rabbits (fast breeders). Knowing about the past and the origin of things is NOT living in the past. The Easter bunny has nothing to do with Christ, maybe you got confused by that South Park episode, but it was meant as a joke or satire, not fact.

And look at your comment: I didn't mention it, you did, I'm just setting you straight.

LOL! @ #30 "Everyone knows what Christmas and Easter currently represent. Let's not live in the past now."

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"----George Santayana

If you can change the meaning of things after the fact then nothing means anything anyway. Not sure about easter, but christmas was moved to replace the pagan winter solstice when christianity overthrew paganism in europe. I know holloween is the harvest festival but dont know any pagan celebrations in spring.

You can keep spewing nonsensical words to prove your insane theories, but facts are facts.
