I see blacks playing crude percussion instruments and doing tribal dances. How is this change from what they have been doing for 10,000 years? Move along folks, no change here.

#7 Mate..when a staff member submits a video it goes throu the same process like any other vid. Nobody publishes a vid "because we can". It will stay in the review queue just as long as any other..and when others approve will get published. Just because im a staff member im not allowed to submit a vid? And whats the point of the video? Does it have to have one? Whats the point of an animal video? This video just shows that a foundation of street musicians made it possible to build a school in africa, where they learn 2 languages, things about music and several other stuff. All made on their own without help of a government. Question answered?

Did I say, you weren't allowed? :-) 90% of the videos here have a point. thats the good thing about snotr. and yes, when animal videos are funny or educational or just purely impressing, they of course have a point.

Here is the thing about "having a point" ..when you like an animal vid it does have a point (entertainment)..but when a vid doesnt entertain you it doesnt have a point? Snotr is for 7 billion people..of course taste wont match always.
But ok..if it is such a bad video..i will happily remove it next days just for the sake of our viewers. =)

Well I, for one, thought it was entertaining and informative. I like music from every culture and to have it as background music for informing us, the viewers, about schools being built in places where there was never such a thing as formal education made it worthwhile.

Some people see the message in this vid , some don't...
There have to be vids like this to wake up people or just get them interested in doing things the other way.

It's sad when nations in a third world country can recognize the value and understand the purpose of education more so than a civilized world. The closest humankind could come to a utopian society is through an educated society.

Hey guys, what is the point of this discussion an why is this amazing video rated so bad?
Do you miss the action? Do you only honor if men risk their life for stunts the world doesn't need and which perhaps animate other young inexperienced people to get in danger?

Or do you prefer the support of culture by any nation xy got talent - shows?
This video has a clear message. It reports about a music school and claims, that musical education is an advantage for a culture. I mean that to. This kind of education gives the people self-confidence and perhaps even an enhanced ability to organize themselves. And even for people being less wealthy than us life is not only eating and working. Music is part of life and joy. I wish all those young musicians much success and fun!

The last thing they need is more music. They have had that for thousands of years and still they live in the bronze age or earlier. They need food medicine, crime prevention,to lose old superstitious religions, less oppressive government. Music doesn't make the top 40 list of what they are lacking, and it most certainly is not change from their norm. its about all they have ever accomplished, and that is limited at best.If you disagree, don't vote me down, pose a better argument.Prove me wrong. Now that would be change.

@nomaddaf...Here is "the better argument"...You say they need food, meds, crime prevention, and to lose old superstitious beliefs but not music??? Well here we are in America and we have all that other stuff but the true art of music is pretty nonexistent and look at how oh so wonderful we are doing :S, And in all honesty it is not just a snap of the finger to get all the other stuff for them so what do you think they need to get through these times of hardship?? Umm that would be music, religious belief, strength, and "togetherness"! How can you bash on something as beautiful as them being proud of a school they built?? Where does all that stuff your saying they need come to pass?? That would be EDUCATION and confidence to get what is needed done and where does that come from??? Strong morals and beliefs and what is one of the strongest foundations for confidence, family, joy, love, and togetherness??? MUSIC!! :D

#19 You haven't got the point of the video. Through those famous african artists they have achieved to build by their own, a school without the help of anyone. Education is the key to development and they have understood that. When you write that they need to lose their superstitious religions, it is true in the sense that it is responsible for a lot of human rights violation like female mutilation and it can serve to legitimate horrible things like rape. But it is not as easy to just tell them "all your beliefs are superstitions, get rid of them". It has to come from themselves and in particular through education. I don't think it is relevant to make comparison between western countries and Africa, it is a totally different way of thinking and we saw what happened with the europeans when they tried to impose their ways during the colonization. Even if music don't bring "direct" effects on the development I think it remains one of the most important creation of human kind.

To quote one of my favorite artist, "Information is not knowledge. Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is not truth. Truth is not beauty. Beauty is not love. Love is not music. Music is the best!" :D

Wow shovel it as fast as you like, but no one in their right mind would want to live in that hell hole. They have not advanced past the bronze age ,what makes you think its all going to change now? You can't drag them kicking and screaming into the present.#16 what the hell are you talking about? every single person in civilized counties goes to school, and we have thousands of collages. They build one hovel and they are more advanced then us intellectually? Wow no wonder the world is so messed up,if you are a sampling of a developed nation.
