price is what's important. i guess you could buy 200 wheel chairs with the money (mass-produced, technically simpler segway is $7000, $20000 for this is not a unrealistic estimation)

Good "step" foward to make less lucky people have a "normal" life.

this device must be so expensive...

4:41 how the guy is supposed to $$$$ while being attached like that?!

#1 #2 Since its made of minimal stuff like pneumatic levers and some metal frame on top of a moving base i wouldnt say its that costly..unlike the fail segway. There is no big high tech in it..just the idea. I would say a normal household engineer could rebuild it at home for about 500-1000 bucks just by watching the vid over and over. Its just a heavy remote controlled base with some iron bars..except the base everything is mechanical..no need for computer sensors, programming and stuff..so i doubt it will cost as much as a segway ;) (wich you pay 50% for the brand alone) And whats your mobility worth when you are bound to a chair? i would happily spend 2000 bucks to this instead 200 for a normal wheelchar.

...but they dont mention stairs or street level at all :/ .. i guess it's all about indoor.

#1 #2 think about saving money for special modifications of your home, just so you can do all the stuff from a $200 wheelchair or costly assistance from somebody.

I am afraid there is only a small group of people who can use this device. my own daughter is disabled , can't use her legs and also cannot use her left arm. there goes using this device on her own. with a normal wheelchair it already sometimes is impossible to ride on the streets, never mind this thing with those small wheels.

btw. where do you guy's get cheap $200 wheelchairs ? since the simple ones cost €1000 and way up here :'(

oh,, and #4 if you really mean this (4. moskwiz 3 hours ago

This brought tears to my eyes.. .my brother is T4 spinal cord injured from a car accident... and this is such a promising looking invention.. he always keeps asking me to look up new technologies invented for such injuries....

By the way I want to know how it copes with a incline ramp - does the increased angle makes it tip over??

#7 From what i see here, there is no way that this could drive up a ramp. Doesnt matter if the driver sits or stands on this machine. I hope they have a solution integrated or at least in mind

Just cut the person in half and install robot legs, fully integrated with the nervasystem. Think it and you will move, like a true cyborg. :(|)

#2 what is expensive is the motor, battery and the control system. The ad is rly well made and seems to be done by professionals, so as for the segway i am sure u can ad at least +50 % bucks over the production and sell cost.

most people would have hard time paying 5000 - 10000 bucks, even if mobility has no price.

And when you drive on the streets, it looks like a segway.

-14?? wtf.. I was just trying to shine some humor and light on this wonderful invention, granted it has its drawbacks and so on but I didn't mean anything bad by that.. People can be so sensitive, on zero grounds no less =/
