#2 it started in the Netherlands, in the time farmers had small squares of land , surrounded by ditches. (There were no tractors back then) because there is lots of water in the Netherlands below sea level, (where the land was taken from the sea). the water does not flow away naturally, the windmils only could pump away water when there was wind, so they had to create a way to jump over the water filled ditches. http://i41.tinypic.com/25jl5zk.jpg . And that became a sport. jumping higher and further.

Sand is not an easy one to land on especially from that height. Makes 3 stories look like cake.

I've been waiting eight years for this to come around again so I could do my joke... Ok here is it #7 Well if you haven't got a sparkly bikini I'd go with pole vaulting. :D Oh so funny well worth the wait...
