That's evacuatED tubes, not evacuation. That means the tubes would be vacuums, eliminating air resistance.

I don't want to think what would happen to a pod going 6000kph that slammed into a wall of air introduced by a seal failure.

Hmm, yea, cool idea and all, but wouldn't catch me on one. I have no desire to play the fly under the flyswatter. Also, am I seeing things, or is there a faded out lol in the text at the end of the clip? Something somewhat foreboding about that. To China in under 2 hours? Cool, send me a postcard at lunch time, if you survived the trip. lol

6 passengers at 1 6th of the cost of a train..??

er... how many passengers fit on a train??

Including loading and off loading of passengers how long would it take to ship 1200 passengers across a country???
No form of travel is accident proof so could you imagine the carnage of a crash in a vacuum tube under the ocean...

Can you send more than one tube through the system at the same time? What would happen with the second pod if you have to getthe first podout of the system on its first destination? Generally a good idea, butprobably will fail if you think it through, like 99% of patented inventions.

"from New York to China in just two hours"

Sounds good but wait a minute.... what's that blue stuff in-between New York and China? It looks very much like sea.
Ah well.
Next bright idea anyone? :|

If you build a straight tube from one place on Earth to another (at the surface) and let the object drop, it will be at the other end in 42 minutes if you ignore air, friction and hot magma.

#11 That 'stuff' between New York and China is called the Continental United States, and then comes the Pacific Ocean. You see,New York is on the east coast of America, not the west. You shoulda' stayed in school wise guy.Geography must not be your strong suite.

Gosh. Really? Does that mean then that to travel from there, Westwards to China, it's not necessary to cross... the...blue stuff? The sea? The.... Pacific?

Keep trying sux2butts. I guess words aren't your strong point eh boy? Did you ever actually attend school? :D

#15 Glad to see you got a geography book from a fifth grader to see the error in your thinking. China is not just across the blue stuff from NYC. It is in the other direction! :D
Oh yea, please wash that greasy looking hair,ok? :S
