Perhaps might have been better if the 'hero' had taken the time to first remove from the keyring, keys to the guy's house, office, garden shed, safe, bike padlock, and safety deposit box...

The evening news report:
"Tonight the corpse of a young man was found floating in the river, police suspect alcohol was involved."

I would have pretended to throw the keys and waited for the drunk to leave then get in the car and take a nice ride until the next day. He probably wouldn't remember anything anyways

#7. That could have produced an even more interesting TV News report:
"A man has been found guilty of vehicle theft after he was found driving a car which had been reported as stolen three days previously. When asked how he came to be in possession of the vehicle, Mr. Iyma Busybody produced the remarkable story that he had simply 'borrowed' the keys from the car's owner to prevent him from driving while under the influence of alcohol. But when interviewed, the owner had no knowledge of such an incident, having woken one morning to find his car missing from the driveway.
In activating a previous suspended sentence for aggravated sexual molestation which Mr Busybody had claimed to be simply roadside resuscitation on a woman following an accident, the Judge: Rt. Hon. Mr. Thatl Teeachya, sentenced Busybody to two years in prison."

Not really a hero, what if the guy was disabled?

#11. That might be a valid point if the driver was not actually drunk, but just appeared to be so by virtue of some pre-existing medical condition. But in this case, the title of the video (assuming we believe it) leaves us in no doubt that the potential driver is indeed drunk.
Now, if you are saying that the man is disabled as well as drunk, then all I can say is that a disabled drunken driver is just as dangerous as any other drunken driver.

the point AFAIK isn't that one should or shouldn't throw away somebody's keys but that one should help prevent drunk people from driving.
