Afterlife
Can you have a meaningful life without an afterlife? I asked several friends to join me in exploring the merits of human existence and the concepts of posthumous reward and punishment. It is my hope that this video will answer religious claims that a secular life is meaningless and void and remind us all to cherish our precious and temporary tenure on planet earth.

I believe the "unlikeliness" of star dust leading to an individual coming into existence is as hard to believe as a life after death. But that exact thing happened. Who's to say with absolute certainty that the latter won't as well?

I know that scientists say that this universe must have been designed or there are multiple universes. The latter cannot be proven hence what we already know is that there is a designer. I don't expect any thumbs up. I just simply point out science of our day.
So many misconceptions of religion in this video but who cares, right (if you get thumbs up you MUST be right)? I am just annoyed by the same onesidedness of atheists as many religious groups have when very obvious facts are just ignored.

The fallacy in this vid is the premise that Christians just "exist" waiting for the afterlife. So many of the good and kind acts in this world happen because Christians care about their fellow man, while atheists just live for themselves and the day.
If Christians are wrong in their beliefs , then they have lost nothing when they die. If atheists are wrong, they have lost everything.
Everything in the universe did not come from nothing, some greater power must have been involved. I do not know exactly what it was,and I probably could not even fathom it,but I think there is more to life than just 'live for today' and then die.

#6 Err Name 1 Scientist that says the Universe is Designed?
#7 The point of the video is that the Afterlife is a scary concept (even Heaven) and that you don't need it to lead a good life.

Again, to quote Joseph Campbell, "God is a metaphor for that which transcends all levels of intellectual thought. It's as simple as that.”
In other words, to believe in that which has yet to be proven true or false is, quite frankly, delusional. Yet, the next time you find yourself aroused to join the long-suffering struggle between atheists and theists, take heed: those who know do not speak; those who speak do not.

I have been to the edge and back, and I have far more perspective then this video has to offer. There isn't a god or afterlife, it can be proven without fail, it just requires the right perspective. I wish they woulda asked me to be in the video.

This video is wrought with quotes from people that state their beliefs as fact. This is all well and good as they are entitled to their beliefs however, just as Christian believe there is God, Atheists must also believe there is not God.
No facts, only faith.
I will also say this. Many statements made in this video are ignorant of what the Bible teaches and the verses shown are taken totally out of context. In my opinion, one should at least read the Bible before they take it out of context or make quotes contrary to its teaching. The point is, you need to educate yourself on both sides of a subject before you conclude a position.

I find extremely captivating that the whole of humanity has to depend upon what few scientist tell us about the afterlife. For instance, what’s “Darkness??” the right answer will be the absence of light!!!...Right??? But, ask the same question to a scientist & you will get an almighty answer, which I’m pretty sure will make your head spin & based on that I learned we are so insignificant to prove anything in relation to death, but ISLAM shed so much light on the afterlife of the entire universe far greater that any scientist, historians, writers or novelist. “Therefore every soul shall have a taste of death” & honestly, it doest exactly what it says on the tin & this will be the way everything must end including “us” & nobody on earth will ever give you a clear cut on what we call the total collapse of the entire universe except ISLAM.

#7 "" So many of the good and kind acts in this world happen because Christians care about their fellow man""
What the F*** is wrong with religion ?? I swear it must be the worst disease, far worse than Alzheimer.
Cause not only do you not remember your own deeds, but you selectively and actively suppress the memory of some of the WORST HORRIBLE HIDDEOUS VIOLENT DEGRADING ABUSIVE, GENOCIDES RAPES MOLESTATIONS and MURDERS, and BY FAR the MOST in numbers. have ALL been done in the name of the good lord. (any good lord)
Religion is like an "ALL FREE" pass to selectively belief in whatever truth you choose. YOU choose to believe that good deeds CAN ONLY be done by christians, and IGNORE that most EVIL deeds have been done by religious people.
Now tell me.. what evil have Atheists ever done to anyone ?
We win by default BY YOUR OWN SCRIPTURE. Cause WE are TRULY NOT evil AND nobody are more RIGHTEOUS than an ATHEIST.
If God presented himself to the world today, EVERY Atheist would admit beeing wrong, most would follow him.
If Science PROOVED the mechanics of the creation of the universe BEYOND ANY DOUBT. Even if they could, and DID infact create a new universe themselves.... Religious people would still claim it was an act of god, and all according to his plans.
What really is wrong with this world, is not lack of faith, but faith itself. Nothing in this world have ever had a more demolishing effect to human potential than scriptures.

While I don't believe there is a puppet master up above with all the greed and corruption in the world, When I start to think how even the first atoms came into existence, I just tell my mind to shut up.
How can the building blocks of life just exist already and if they had existed already then why?!. To me that is the most "Mind Bottling" thing of all.

#21 None of those Scientists are claiming to know the Universe is designed they are referring to the "Fine Tuning" theory which states that certain physical properties having just the right settings for complexity and life. This is a lay persons theory and not taken seriously by physicists or cosmologists.
For one the Universe is anything but life friendly, take a trip a few miles up and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Nor is there anything to say this Universe is more complex than any other.

I think this whole argument hinges on humanity's ability to label things; to give things a name. Religion was born in the early times when life and death depended on the sun, rain, etc. and even now it's firmly attached to words like "sun" "light" "fire" and so forth. I've no intention of joining in on the endless attempts to come up with dramatic videos regurgitating the same nonsense but I will say one thing... human beings do not know. You can neither prove nor disprove the existence of an organized force in control of all matter, a creator if you will, simply because we are ignorant, simple organisms with delusions of intelligence beyond our station. We do not know, period, and believing in a metaphor that represents doing good over evil is the origin of humanity's progress. Atheists believe they are right but that doesn't prove anything. Same with theists. Live and let live.

we will never know until we die and even then we wont know couse all our input sensors will be down and no new input for infinite time is worse than any kind of jail or freedom.
only problem humans have is moral compass if we somehow steer it in the right way heaven will be on earth and for ever ever after, maybe not for ever since its kinda given that sun will burn out.
money is biggest magnet on our compass
so afterlife is what you done for your family friends enemies earth and even universe before you die will it become more heaven like of more hell like is kinda up to you

As it has been stated before, I do not think that such onesided views (be it from atheists or any other religious individuals) are going to ever solve anything.
From my limited life experience, both meta-groups have very few intelligent individuals, some intelligent individuals, most of them are mediocre and some are plain stupid. Just like the general panoply of society.
I've been called a lot of names during these few years just for the fact that I try to promote some sort of neutrality and an equal distance towards both ends.
I'm a religious individual, I truly believe that my existence was not an accident (existence seen as a whole, not just mine).
I cannot claim I posses the knowledge to properly ensue after such a vast topic. I am blind in a sea of knowledge that I cannot access so far.
We have learned a lot (humanity) but we still have a very long way ahead of us. The wonders that we might discover beckon us to keep an open mind towards any possibility and not encrust ourselves in a futile dogma of belief, be it one way or the other.
Faith is paramount to religion to make sense but religion is not paramount to faith.
Thus, the whole point of acceding towards a religion is to have faith in something that is greater than you and guide your life based on a set of rules (be them any kind) to improve your life by improving the lives of the ones around you (find inner peace, be in an equilibrium with life etc.). Some need that guidance that they find in faith. Is not a matter of intelligence (I sincerely do not think it is).
I've had spectacular conversations both with very religious individuals and with "true" atheists. (I might think that the new generations just call themselves atheists because it has become cool).

Ultimately, it comes down to purpose - why does anything matter?
If humanity is the result of a cosmic accident, then there is no ultimate purpose - any other rationale is just a comforting delusion.
If humanity has purpose, then one must consider the source of purpose and what worldview gives the most consistent explanation.
That singular worldview is Christianity - specifically the Reformed Theological worldview.
see proofthatgodexists.org, carm.org and monergism.com for a good start.

first of all: wow so many up / down votes all the way down to 35th comment
more important:
lets say there is a heaven. with all different religions around, 99% of anything ever lived, is going to hell for making a wrong uneducated choice
lets say there is a heaven. will they allow animals in there? a cow lives a good wholesome christian way of life and goes to heaven. then jesus orders a Steak... sorry cow, you have to die again
lets say there is a god and christianity is the way to be. why didn't he care about all the living things before jesus was born? or are they all forgiven and go to heaven. shit i'm born to late. should have been born before jesus did?
religion is a part of like because it's just like life: we get supplies and we all want some of it. some are gready and some are thiefs. some are honest and some are weak. so the weak and honest appoint others as gaurds / security. they give up some of their own freedom to be sure the gready and the thiefs are controlled, in the hope they all get their own shares. but power corrupts and now the ones in control become gready.
this is all religion is, a way of keeping people off of your shit. be it your stuff, your life, your spouse, childeren or anything else we lable as Mine.
i do not believe there is a god just as sure as i know there is no person standing next to me right now ( empty house ) telling me to do things and no one else can see him / speak / touch / smell him or see the effects of his actions. that invisible, untouchable person has all the same valid proofs for existence and non existence as any god there ever was and will be.
