One has to love cultural differences. Americans presumably see this as a touching story of devotion and companionship. Our Dutch colleague #(removed comment) above watches this and sees a case for euthanasia due to pain and suffering. MHO, why overthink the vid? Just appreciate the bond and devotion.

I read about this in a newspaper article ( in the UK ) and you know how crazy we are about our dog's....That's how you look after a real friend.....you help him when he needs it....and your there for him whenever he needs you..how else could it be? That guy has my utmost admiration for sticking by his friend. And not just having him put down because its "inconvenient" having him around.

When you read and see stories like this one it makes you proud to be a human being and then on the news last night you see the results of human beings hacking the horns from adult Rhino leaving them to die and their young who starve at a rate of two a day! TWO EVERY SINGLE DAY WHY do they do this????? Because in this so called civilised world and especially in CHINA Rhino horn sells weight for weight for the same price as cocaine does in the USA. Think what flour weighs think what rhino horn is going to weigh!!! It is used in CHINEESE medicine and idiots all over the world buy it for their ailments. Do you know what this stuff does for your ailments?????? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The interesting thing will be when the last rhino has died and all the stock has been used up, they will be able to switch to flour any no one will ever tell the differance.

This is the least we can do for "our" pets, but as for our fellow humans?

It is not that I don't see the love they have for one and other.
But simple minded I might be . I see the sufering of the Dog .
I had to make the choice once .Ceep my dog suffering so he can be with me.
Or led him Go ...It broke my hart But Would be selfisch to let him stay.
So if you wonder if I have anny feelings or understanding for the man and
his dog? What do you think?

#3 "Americans presumably see this as a touching story of devotion and companionship." ... really? you can speak from all americans, or the world just spins around you?
as for the clip - this is a true friendship, and I agree that it's touching
but putting me in the dog's place... I'm with our Dutch colleague, and it's a personal choice not all bulgarians think as me
#9 indeed they are better, or it's humans that think themselves as rulers of the world, so pathetic, the world will be here even when we're long gone, we have to learn to live in it

I'm not afraid to admit it, i cried like a little girl when i watched this, but for good reason, i feel this same pain as i have recently lost not just a pet but a best friend. And like this guy my friend saved me from destruction too, a bad break up led me into thinking all sorts of dark things, but then i went to a customer's house (from my job) and his daughter's cat had just had kittens and he suggested i take one, and he changed my life!! I had a reason again, a reason to get up in a morning, a reason to come home at night, a reason to live!! So please don't mock this guy, it's nothing bad to have feelings, or if it is then lock me up, because i care too
