I hate playing with innocent animals, this must be hurting that dog!

That dog did not pull 5.5 metric tons. He pulled a cart holding (presumably) 5.5 metric tons of material, which required an unknown amount of force. That force will vary with the rigidity of the wheels and the surface they are rolling on, as well as the friction of the wheel bearings.

Shouldn't they have some kind of force meter between the dog and the bricks? It may be 5.5 metric tons, but its on wheels. A fox terrior could pull that much weight if you had the right wheels. It's like the guy who pulls the tractor trailer with his nose piercing. Its just a matter of pressure and time.

#4 Exactly. You nailed it perfectly. The sub title is painfully false. And #5 Kudos to you as well. This is not a sledge but a platforn with wheels and bearings - on a nice flat level plane! The dog is wickedly strong, imagine trying to pull him from a fresh pee spot from another dog on a walk (impossible) but not 5.5 tons worth of strength.

There was a time when dogs were used to pull carts.

Horses are still pulling wagons and don't forget sleigh pulling huskys.

#4 #5 you have just said what has been going through my head for years.
So, all of the "Worlds Strongest Man" truck/train pulling feats are less impressive than they look.

Wouldn't it be more logical to let the dog and the elephant (9822 baby elephant playing in the water) switch place?
