That's an amazing sight, and one we won't see again for a long time. This stuff costs a fraction of the cost of the banking bailouts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan: shame the budget doesn't stretch to pursue positive, long-term objectives like our future in space.

Whenever I see a shuttle mounted on this 747, this comes to mind:

We are fourteen trillion in debt, our soldiers are being killed or maimed in the middle east for oil, 1 out 5 children in this country go hungry, spending the most per student but don't need to tell where our students rate against other countries, the real unemployment is approaching 20 percent, only 49 million of us are working and paying taxes supporting all those who won't work or who are paid directly or indirectly by a government funding that including the taxes they pay, two worthless parties that allowed the office of the presidency the powers of a monarch and Americans pretending we are the greatest country in the world because they won't face reality that we are going broke. You're correct, NASA is cheap considering and that's a good thing since there is no bang for the buck so we should at least be entertained.

@8 weirdly you'd 'pretend, instead of 'claimin, yet that's history made for the World, good or bad, those are nowadays relics.

I hope americans will sort out their financial crisis and go back to the space, like they did for the Moon.

#9 I don't have to pretend, I'm from the same generation that put men on the moon, which efforts resulted in developing a huge amount of new technology. I have no problem with the "relic" that was ten times more expensive to put into space than using rockets or a space station estimated at 40 billion and built for 120 billion. NASA has been using Soviet rockets to get to the space station. NASA also talks about manned space flights to mars but couldn't put a man on the moon like they did 43 years ago in 1969 if they tried.

Thank God NASA has now been directed to educate Muslims around the world about their great contributions to things like this... rather than just building things like the Space Shuttle without giving them their proper attribution!
