Wooooow, so many commenters thinking this is about boiling water.......faith in humanity lost.
The point of this video isnt the boiling, the cool thing is the Leidenfrost effect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leidenfrost_effect
Its pretty cool that the ball is so hot that it doesnt touch the water for the first minute or so after it been dropped in the water, its so hot that it has layer all around the ball that keeps it from coming in contact with the water....

wow that was cool. Though I was surprised, the moment I saw that he was going to drop it in a glass cup I was expecting the cup to shatter from the extreme temp difference.
