#8 they probably used chains, under pressure they can create a spark when grinding over eachother or the metal surface they were bound to, add that spark to gasoline fumes and you got a pretty explosive situation.

In Nigeria these kind of tanker explosions kill at least the 50 people who are stealing oil from it
