In response to esona. Yes it is a hell of a job and yes alcoholisn is rampant. I too am a retired firefighter and was the worse kind of drunk. But there is a solution and by the Grace of God I found the 12 steps of AA and for that I am grateful. May I suggest you find an alanon meeting in your area and find out what you can do. This may or may not help your dad but it can help you understand.
