Same effect as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQDjJRYmeWg

The camera is 'sampling' (taking picture...) too slow, which makes it look like the string is almost stationary.

#3 It's nothing to do with the sampling rate - the strings are never in that actual shape.

It's because of the "rolling shutter". A good explanation here
