Not such downgrade. The "big" bike is most probably 125ccm and yamaha (and maybe others) make even 50ccm "superbikes".

#2 From an actual sportbike to a little bicycle with a tiny engine mounted over the rear wheel is not such a downgrade?

My guess is Honda CBR 150 2013 (exhaust looks pretty much the same), so #2 is probably right. Also #1 is definitely right! :D
